Obama's Ancestors May Have Owned Slaves--BIG DEAL!
Big deal! My American ancestors did own slaves. So, perhaps did Bush's and Al Sharpton's, as did the ancestors of many other really nice people.
This is America, folks. Slavery is part of our heritage. Let's deal with it constructively, not as a taunt.
Pickings must be slim, indeed, if that's all they can come up with to smear Obama. First they cast aspersions on his primary school, now this.
Here's a proposal: No one whose ancestors owned slaves in the Americas can run for President of the United States.
Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you the president of the United States of America--Arnold Swartzenegger!

It is hardly surprising to learn that Barack Obama has slave onwers in his family tree. Virtually all Americans, regardless of their race or ethnicity, have ancestors who owned slaves. Many African Americans who researched their family trees would be shocked to discover that have black as well as white ancestors who were slave owners. In the United States, free blacks as well as whites owned slaves (one of the South’s biggest slave owner was a freed black man notorious for his harsh treatment of his slaves). The percentage of free blacks who owned slaves was small, as was the percentages of whites who owned slaves, but the intricacies of the genetic pool guarantee that virtually everyone is related to them. African Americans who traced their heritage back to Africa would discover that virtually all their African ancestors were involved in the slave traded. The African tribes ran the “supply side” of the Atlantic slave trade. The ancestors of Hispanic Americans owned both black and Indian slaves. American Indian tribes practiced slavery both before and after the European discovery of America. The Cherokee Nation, for example, voted yesterday (3 March 07) to revoke the tribal citizenship of about 2,800 descendants of Cherokee slaves. It seems only Americans of European descent feel obige to feel guilty about slavery.
Recent immigrants like Arnold Swartzenegger are also descendants of slaves and slave owners. Even the word "slave" is derived from "Slavic," meaning Easter European.

Excellent post. When this came out about Obama's mama's great-great-grandmama (or whomever), I figured it would be hard to find a white anywhere in the U.S. whose ancestors couldn't be linked to slavery.
Whites in America are quick to boast that "my ancestors owned slaves." Not true. Most whites during that period were poor and couldn't afford to buy slaves. Mosts of them worked their own farms, if they had one, or worked for somebody else: picking cotton and working for a living.
Rich people owned plantations. They alone, could afford to purchase and BREED human beings like cattle.
Get over yourselves. If you have to get up everyday, catch the bus or the subway and live from paycheck to paycheck...and, especially, if your ancestors are from the North, you are likely not the ancestors of slave-owners.
I will not acquiesce in on it. I over precise post. Expressly the title-deed attracted me to be familiar with the sound story.
